Amaç: Bu çalışma yoğun bakımda çalışan hemşirelerin ölüme karşı tutumları ve saygın ölüm ilkelerine ilişkin tutumları ile ikisi arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Kesitsel tipteki bu çalışma Eskişehir Osmangazi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Sağlık Uygulama ve Araştırma Hastanesi’nde yoğun bakım birimlerinde çalışan 124 (%90.5) yoğun bakım hemşiresinin katılımı ile gerçekleşmiştir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak Ölüme Karşı Tutum Ölçeği ve Saygın Ölüm İlkelerine İlişkin Tutumları Değerlendirme Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Bu çalışmada yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin yaş ortalaması 29.30±6.33 ve çalışma yılı ortalaması 4.47±4.43 yıldır. Çalışmada yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin Ölüme Karşı Tutum Ölçeği’nden aldıkları toplam madde puan ortalaması 4.14±1.02’dir. Yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin Saygın Ölüm İlkelerine İlişkin Tutumları Değerlendirme Ölçeği toplam madde puan ortalaması 3.66±0.91’dir. Hemşirelerin Ölüme Karşı Tutum Ölçeği’nden aldığı puan ortalaması ile Saygın Ölüm İlkelerine İlişkin Tutumları Değerlendirme Ölçeği’nden aldıkları puan ortalaması arasında pozitif yönde orta düzeyde anlamlı bir korelasyon bulunmuştur (r=0.449, p<0.05). Sonuç: Bu çalışmada hemşirelerin ölüme karşı negatif bir tutum içinde oldukları ve saygın ölüm ilkelerini benimseme düzeylerinin yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır. Hemşirelerin ölüme karşı tutumları negatifleştikçe saygın ölüm ilkelerini benimseme düzeyleri artmaktadır.
Purpose: This study was done with the aim of determining the attitudes of the nurses working in intensive care towards death and the attitudes of respectful principles of death and the relationship between the two. Method: This study of the cut-off type was done with the participation of 124 (90.5%) intensive care nurses working in intensive care units at the University of Eskişehir Osmangazi School of Medicine Health Application and Research Hospital. The study used the measure of attitude to death as a data collection tool and the measure of assessment of attitudes to respect the principles of death. The average age of intensive care nurses in this study is 29.30±6.33 and the average working year is 4.47±4.43 years. In the study, the total substance score that intensive care nurses receive from the Death-to-Death Behavior Scale is 4.14±1.02. The measure of assessment of the attitudes of intensive care nurses to respect the Principles of Death is 3.66±0.91. There was a significant correlation in the positive direction between the average score received by nurses from the Death-to-Death Attitude Scale and the average score they received from the Appreciate Death Principles Attitude Assessment Scale (r=0.449, p<0.05). The study found that nurses have a negative attitude towards death and that they have a high level of acceptance of respected principles of death. As the nurses’ attitudes towards death negative, the levels of adoption of respectful principles of death increase.

Methods: This sectional type study was performed with the participation of 124 (90.5%) intensive care nurses working in the intensive care units of Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine Health Practice and Research Hospital. In the study, Death Attitude Profile-Revised Scale and Assessment Scale of Attitudes towards Principles about Dying with Dignity were used as data collection tools. Results: In this study, the mean age of intensive care nurses was 29.30±6.33 years and the mean working time was 4.47±4.43 years. In the study, the average score of the intensive care nurses' Death Attitude Profile-Revised Scale was 4.14±1.02. The total average score of the intensive care nurses' Assessment Scale of Attitudes towards Principles about Dying with Dignity was found as 3.66±0.91. There was a positive significant correlation between the average score obtained by the nurses' Death Attitude Profile-Revised Scale and the average score obtained from the Assessment Scale of Attitudes towards Principles about Dying with Dignity (r=0.449, p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study, it was found that nurses had a negative attitude towards death and their level of adoption of principles about die with dignity was high. As nurses' attitudes towards death become negative, their level of adoption of principles about die with dignity increases.
