Abstract Even after decades of research that demystifies the narrative of an irremediable conflict between science and religion, this discourse appears to have a life of its own and continues to perpetuate itself. The objective of this work was to investigate the effects of this narrative on the perception of Psychology students about the relations between the two spheres and to describe the repercussions of their contact with scientific production on the subject. Seven constituent elements of their reports were identified: reflections and questions about the place and role of Science and/or Psychology in their relationship with spirituality/religiosity; recognition of prejudice from Science and/or Psychology towards spirituality/religiosity and alienation from the theme; recognition of scientific production in spirituality/religiosity, its importance and need for dialogue with Psychology; deconstruction of myths about a primordial conflict between Science and Religion; recognition of the presence of the paradigm of conflict between both; recognition of the presence, importance and influence of spirituality/religiosity in the general population; and divergent notes. We hope that the results presented can pave the way for the construction of a narrative more coherent with the reality in which we live.
