The aim of this study is to examine the effects of the Covid 19 epidemic on the BIST 100 index for the period 31 March 2020 and 9 June 2021. Unlike other studies conducted for Turkey, this study uses regression analysis with financial variables such as interest rate, dollar and gold, which may have an effect on the BIST 100 index, unlike cointegration analysis with two variables. The daily number of deaths and the number of patients are used to represent the Covid 19 epidemic. According to the findings obtained from the study, the number of daily patients has a significant negative effect on the BIST 100 index, while the number of deaths has no significant effect on the BIST 100 index. In addition to these results, the dollar exchange rate has a significant negative effect on the BIST 100 index. However, the effects of interest rate and gold on the BIST 100 index are positive, contrary to expectations.
