Abstract:

This research was conducted to determine the attitudes of health science faculty students towards violence in dating and the factors affecting it. This descriptive study was conducted with 305 students studying in the health sciences faculty of a university located in a city center in the Southeast in the spring semester 2018-2019 academic year. The data were obtained through "Descriptive Information Form" and "The Attitudes Towards Dating Violence Scale". In statistical evaluation; number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson correlation analysis were used. The mean age of the students was 20.76±2.05 and the attitude scales towards violence in dating of the students aged 20 and under and upper than 21 were compared. It was found that there was a significant relationship between all sub-dimensions and the total score (p<0.05). Considering the gender of the students, their department, and the class they studying, it was found that there was a significant relationship between the mean scores of the scales of attitude towards violence in dating (p<0.05). It was determined that male students who participated in the study had a higher level of acceptance of both physical and psychological violence against their partners in dating relationships than women.
