Bu araştırmanın amacı annelerin problem davranışlarla başa çıkmaya ilişkin görüşlerinin değerlendirilmesidir. Çalışma nitel bir araştırma olarak yapılandırılmış ve annelerin görüşleri araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu yardımıyla elde edilmiştir. Görüşmede annelerden önce çocuklarında sık karşılaştıkları davranış problemlerini tanımlamaları istenmiş ardından, problem davranış karşısında verilen ilk tepkiler ve başa çıkma yolları, algılanan anne baba başa çıkma yolları, annelerin destek alıp/almama durumları ve kimden/ nereden destek aldıklarına yönelik soruları yanıtlamaları istenmiştir.Çalışma grubu Orta Anadolu’da bir il merkezinde çocukları bir okul öncesi eğitim kurumuna devam eden 39 anneden oluşmaktadır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlara göre, annelerin çocuklarında en sık karşılaştığı problem davranışlar sırasıyla inatçılık, ağlama davranışı, agresif olma ve yemek seçme/yemeye isteksizliktir. Annelerin en çok durum hakkında konuşma tepkisini ve baş etme yolunu tercih ettikleri belirlenmiştir. Katılımcılar annelerinin, babalarına göre istenmeyen davranış karşısında konuşma şeklinde daha yapıcı tepki gösterdiğini belirtmiştir. Bütünsel olarak bakıldığında ebeveynlerin problemle daha çok geleneksel yaklaşımlarla (bağırma, cezalandırma ya da fiziksel şiddet) baş etmeye çalıştıkları görülmüştür. Annelerin çoğunluğu çocuklarıyla yaşadıkları problem davranışların çözümüne yönelik destek aldıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Bazı annelerin istenmeyen davranışlarla başa çıkmada öğretmenle işbirliği yapmaya yöneldikleri görülmüştür. Ancak çalışmaya katılan annelerin önemli bir oranı, eşlerinden ve aile büyüklerinden destek aldıklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Sonuç olarak annelerin çocuklarıyla yaşadıkları problem davranışlar ve bu problem davranışların çözümüne yönelik neler yapabileceklerine dair daha fazla uzman desteği almaları konusunda teşvik edilmeleri gerekmektedir.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the opinions of mothers about how to deal with problem behavior. The study was structured as a research and the opinions of mothers were obtained with the help of a semi-structured conversation form developed by the researcher. In the interview, the mothers were asked to identify the behavioral problems they often encounter in their children, the first reactions and ways to cope with the problem behavior, the ways to cope with the detected parents, the situations of the mothers receiving support and from whom/where they receive support were asked. In the analysis of data is used content analysis. According to the findings, the most common problems that mothers encounter in their children behaviors are, respectively, perseverance, crying behavior, being aggressive and dissuasion of eating. It is determined that the mothers prefer the reaction of talking about the situation and how to deal with it. Participants pointed out that their mothers were more constructive in the form of speech against unwanted behavior by their fathers. Overall, it has been shown that parents are more trying to deal with the problem with traditional approaches (tracking, punishment or physical violence). The majority of mothers say they are supported to solve the problems they have with their children. Some mothers have been shown to cooperate with teachers in dealing with unwanted behaviors. But a significant percentage of the mothers who participated in the work said they received support from their spouses and family elderly. As a result, mothers should be encouraged to get more expert support on the problem behavior they experience with their children and what they can do to solve these problem behaviors.
The aim of this study is to evaluate mothers' views on coping with problem behaviors. The study was structured as a qualitative research and the opinions of the mothers were obtained with the help of a semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher. In the interview, the mothers were first asked to describe the behavioral problems they frequently encounter in their children, and then they were asked to answer questions about the first reactions and ways of coping with the problem behavior, perceived parental coping methods, whether or not mothers received support, and from whom/where they received support. The study group consists of 39 mothers whose children attend a pre-school education institution in a city center in Central Anatolia. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. According to the results, the most common problem behaviors faced by mothers in their children are stubbornness, crying behavior, being aggressive, and reluctance to choose/eat food, respectively. It was determined that mothers mostly preferred the reaction of talking about the situation and the way of coping. Participants stated that their mothers reacted more constructively in the face of undesirable behavior in the form of speaking than their fathers. When viewed holistically, it was seen that parents tried to deal with the problem with more traditional approaches (yelling, punishment or physical violence). Most of the mothers stated that they received support for the solution of the problem behaviors they experienced with their children. It has been observed that some mothers tend to cooperate with the teacher in coping with undesirable behaviors. However, a significant proportion of mothers participating in the study stated that they received support from their spouses and family elders. As a result, mothers should be encouraged to get more expert support about the problem behaviors they experience with their children and what they can do to solve these problem behaviors.
