The objective of the study was toinvestigate the effects of mannanoligosaccharides(MOS) and chromium (Cr) on performance ofcalves consuming milk. A total of 60 Holstein calveswere fed colostrums on first 3 days after deliveryand assigned into 3 groups 20 per group, namelycontrol (no supplement, only milk), milk plus MOS(6 g/day/head)), and milk plus MOS plus Cr (0.5ppm/day/head) along with alfalfa and starter diet inall groups until weaning. Body weight changeswere similar between groups (Pcombination of MOS and Cr in milk provided moregrowth in terms of hip heights (P=0.01), bodylength (P=0.009), and hip widths (P=0.001).Heart girths were similar among groups (P>0.05).Both serum Ca and cholesterol concentrations weregreater when either MOS alone (P=0.001) orMOS plus Cr was offered to the calves (P=0.002).Serum glucose and protein concentrations remainedunchanged with treatments (P>0.05). AlthoughMOS itself is not effective, when it is combined withCr, the performance improved. New born calvescould be supplemented with MOS at 6 g/day with Crat 0.5 ppm for a better growth performance
