Çocuk sorununa dair çalışmalar diğer tüm tarih çalışmaları yanında oldukça cılız kalan bir alan olarak görülmelidir. Çocuk tarihini birde savaş içinde düşünmek bu zorluğu daha iyi anlatır. Günümüzde olduğu gibi geçmiş zamanlar da çocuklar büyük savaş ya da hadiselerde en büyük travmayı yaşayanlardır. Böyle büyük bir hadiseye en iyi örnek ise Birinci Dünya Savaşı gösterilebilir. Çalışmamızın özelliğinde, Osmanlı Devleti sınırlarını aldığımızda savaş sürecinde birçok çocuğun kimsesiz kaldığını baştan söylemeliyiz. Buna sebep olan en önemli unsurun da ülkenin işgal edilen bölgelerinden gelen çok sayıda göçmenin başta başkent İstanbul olmak üzere Osmanlı Devleti’nin her yanına dağılması olduğunu belirtmek mümkündür. Artan nüfus kimsesiz çocuklara kimin bakacağı sorusunu beraberinde getirmiştir. Sokaklarda kimsesiz, başıboş, aç gezen çocuklar ortaya çıkmıştır. Tam da bu sorunu ortadan kaldırmak için bu dönemde Himaye-i Etfal Cemiyeti’nin kimsesiz çocukları himaye etmek amacı ile 1917 yılında faaliyete geçtiğini görüyoruz. Bu çalışma kimsesiz çocukları himaye etmek amacı ile kurulan Himaye-i Etfal Cemiyetinin kurulduğu dönemdeki şartları, ülkenin içinde bulunduğu koşulları, cemiyetin mali koşullarını iyileştirme çabasını gözler önüne sermek amacını taşımaktadır. Böyle bir müessesenin kurulmasını sağlayan sebep ise, toplumun içinde oluşan kimsesiz çocuklar ve bu çocukları kurtarma gayreti olmuştur.
Study on the problem of the child should be seen as a field that remains a very narrow place along with all the other historical studies. Thinking about the child’s history in a war is better to explain this difficulty. Today, as in the past, children are the greatest trauma in great wars or events. The best example of such a great event can be the First World War. In the characteristic of our work, when we take the Ottoman State borders, we must say at first that many children were left without anyone during the war process. The most important element that causes this is that many immigrants from the occupied areas of the country are primarily dispersed throughout the Ottoman State, the capital of Istanbul. The growing population brought with them the question who would care for the unfamiliar children. In the streets there were no-one, hungry, hungry children. We see that in this period the Himaye-i Etfal Society was activated in 1917 in order to protect the unnamed children to eliminate this problem. This work aims to see the conditions in the period of the establishment of the Himaye-i Etfal Community, which was established with the aim of protecting the unnamed children, the conditions within the country, the efforts to improve the financial conditions of the community. The reason for the establishment of such a institute was the effort to rescue the unfamiliar children and these children that formed within the society.
Studies on the child problem are seen as a rather weak field, among other historical studies. Thinking of child history in war tells this challenge better. In the past, like today, children are those who experience the biggest trauma in great war or events.The best example of such a great event is the First World War. In the study, when we handle the borders of the Ottoman, we must say firstly that many children were left orphan during the war.It is possible to state that the most important fact that caused this was the spread of many immigrants from the occupied regions of the country to all over the Ottoman, especially the capital Istanbul. Increasing population brought with it the problem of who will care for orphans. On the streets, orphaned, stray, hungry children appeared.To eliminate this problem precisely, we see thatthe Himaye-i Etfal Society get started in 1917to protect orphans. This study aims to reveal the effort to improve the conditions in the period when Himaye-i Etfal Society established to protect the orphans was founded, country conditions, the financial conditions of the society.The cause for the establishment of such an foundation was the orphans and effort to save them.
