Abstract:

Community Mental Health Centers (TRSM) are integrated units to hospitals where patients with severe mental disorders are monitored and treated in the environment where they live. One of the activities carried out by ergotherapists in these units in the process of treatment according to the needs, desires and skills of patients is plant therapy gardens. This study was conducted at 54 TRSMs selected from different regions in Turkey. For this purpose, the types of plants used for therapeutic purposes in the plant therapy gardens of TRSMs have been identified. In addition, it has been determined for what purpose these plants are used in their therapeutic gardens in accordance with the physical and cognitive abilities of individuals with special needs. The study calculated the informative mind unity factor (FIC) and plant usage value (UV), and the variation range (DA) formula was also used to find the difference between the species used. The study found that a total of 42 plant taxons were used for therapeutic purposes in the TRSM centers. The local and scientific names of the plants used, the purposes of use, the parts used and the frequencies of use have been determined. In the therapeutic gardens that were studied, the use of the flower group of plants was 20 (48%) and the vegetable group of plants 14 (33%), and the tree and tree group of plants were 8 (19%) varieties of plants. The most of the flower parts of the plants (40%) are used. Furthermore, 47% of these plants used are visualized, 32% food and 21% smell. The FIC value of the study is calculated as 0.22. The UV value is in the most rose (0,96), the lowest grape and root (0,01) plants. It is 0.95 .
