Adenotonsillectomy and tonsillectomy are the most common surgical procedures. The neutrophil/lenfocyte ratio, the trombocyte/lenfocyte ratio and the average volume of trombocytes can be used as inflammatory indicators. The aim of the study is to determine whether the values of these inflammatory indicators in patients with adenotonsillectomy and tonsillectomy will be effective in tracking or whether they are a indicator for a surgical decision. Method and Requirements: Medical records and pre-operative blood values of 194 patients operated due to chronic tonsillitis and tonsill hypertrophy were reviewed backward. The total number of blood cells (CBCs) in the month after the surgery was assessed. CBC records were taken from 83 patients with normal values followed by the pediatric clinic as a control group. The ratio of pre-operative neutrophils/lenphocytes in 194 patients in the study group increased significantly compared to the postoperative ratio. The trombocytes/lenfocytes ratio was not significantly different. In terms of the average volume of thrombocytes, the pre-operative, post-operative and control groups were statistically different in 3 groups. When the parameters were studied in terms of the number of infections, there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of the ratio of neutrophils/lenfocytes, the ratio of thrombocytes/lenfocytes and the average volume of thrombocytes. The number of repeated infections in patients with adenotonsillectomy and tonsillectomy, the ratio of neutrophils/lenfocytes, the ratio of thrombocytes/lenfocytes and the average volume of thrombocytes did not make significant differences in the pre- and post-operative values. However, the rate of neutrophils/lenphocytes in patients under surgery was significantly higher in normal population and postoperative period than in the preoperative period. Therefore, we believe that the neutrophil/lenphocytes rate can be used as an inflammatory indicator in tonsillitis patients.
