Abstract:

Great civilizations were established in many different cities of Anatolia. Adıyaman province, located in the Southeast Anatolian region, is one of these centers. In the Middle Ages, Adıyaman continued its importance as a border city. The fact that the city was under the domination of many powers in certain periods made it difficult to obtain the resources related to this place. Therefore, the city is mentioned indirectly in medieval sources. When the books, articles, symposiums and thesis studies about Adıyaman were examined, it was determined that the most researches on the city were archeology and art history studies. Due to the fact that the data about the city began to increase during the Ottoman rule, the Ottoman state period made studies widespread. In addition to Adıyaman's prehistoric, first and medieval histories, the bibliographies of theses, papers, articles, books and book chapters about the Ottoman period were discussed under separate headings. The research is important for researchers who want to do academic and scientific studies on the history of Adıyaman and its surroundings, in finding the resources to apply.
