Abstract:

With the influence of globalization and technological developments, local cultures have been adversely affected, and cultural values have faced the threats of standardization, decontextualization, and excessive commercialization. It has become increasingly difficult to protect intangible cultural heritage values as a result of not being able to preserve tradition due to economic concerns, switching to fabricated production, and seeing tourism as a goal rather than a tool. Therefore, protecting and ensuring the sustainability of these values has also been the subject of scientific studies. In this study, theses and articles in the national literature regarding both intangible cultural heritage and the preservation and sustainability of intangible cultural heritage have been analyzed. In this context, DergiPark, Google Scholar, EBSCO and ULAKBİM databases and YÖK National Thesis Center have been scanned and the sources obtained have been examined according to various criteria. Afterwards, among these studies, studies on the protection and sustainability of intangible cultural heritage have been evaluated according to similar criteria. Discussions and suggestions have been presented in line with the findings obtained as a result of the examination of the identified studies.
