İstihdamı arttırmak ve ekonomik büyümeyi gerçekleştirmek, ülke ekonomilerinin temel hedefleri arasında yer almaktadır. Genel kanı, istihdamdaki artışın ekonomik büyüme sağlayacağı ve ekonomideki büyümenin istihdamı arttıracağı yönündedir. Ancak uygulamada bu iki değişken arasında ilişki olmadığına dair sonuçlar elde eden ve istihdam yaratmayan büyüme konusuna değinen çalışmalar bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türkiye’deki istihdam ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkiyi cinsiyet farklılığını dikkate alarak analiz etmektir. Kadın istihdamı, erkek istihdamı ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki, 2006-2019 yılları arasındaki döneme ait üç aylık veriler kullanılarak Toda-Yamamoto (1995) nedensellik testi ile incelenmiştir. Nedensellik testinden önce serilerin durağanlıkları ADF ve PP birim kök testleri ile araştırılmış ve daha sonra VAR modeli kurulmuştur. VAR analizinde kullanılan modelin istikrarlı olup olmadığı ve otokorelasyon sorunu bulunup bulunmadığı test edildikten sonra Eviews 10 programı ile Toda-Yamamoto (1995) nedensellik analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ampirik analiz neticesinde ekonomik büyüme ile kadın istihdamı ve erkek istihdamı arasında herhangi bir nedensellik ilişkisi tespit edilememiştir. Bu sonuç istihdamsız büyüme olgusunu destekler niteliktedir.
Increasing employment and achieving economic growth is one of the main objectives of the country’s economies. The general blood is that the increase in employment will lead to economic growth and the growth in the economy will increase employment. But in practice there are studies that point to the growth issue that results that there is no relationship between these two variables and that there is no job creation. The aim of this study is to analyze the relationship between employment and economic growth in Turkey, taking into account gender differences. The relationship between women’s employment, men’s employment and economic growth was studied by Toda-Yamamoto (1995) causality test using three-month data from the period between 2006 and 2019. Before the causality test, the stages of the series were investigated with the ADF and PP unit root tests and then the VAR model was established. After testing whether the model used in the VAR analysis is stable and whether there is no self-correlation problem, the causality analysis was conducted with the program Eviews 10 with Toda-Yamamoto (1995) . As a result of the empirical analysis, there was no causal relationship between economic growth and women’s employment and men’s employment. This result supports unemployed growth.
