Abstract:

The phenomenon of monitoring in the digital age has been more involved in daily life than ever. The monitoring phenomenon, along with the presence of smartphones and social media, has gone out of being just a spatial phenomenon and has spread to all human relationships. With the new forms of surveillance, the phenomenon of surveillance has become an easy technique for both economic and implementational institutions, while for people it has become a ‘normal’, ‘acceptable’, ‘wanted’ position. But while social media makes the monitoring phenomenon an easy-to-implementing instrument for institutions, it also provides a potential for the development of individual and social aspects, such as organization, awareness, awareness, through the intensive interaction and information flow it provides. This also provides the possibility of monitoring people. Monahan defined the term counter surveillance as ‘intentional, tactical use or breakdown of surveillance technologies to challenge the asymmetries of corporate power’. But in addition to this, these technologies can also include relatively simpler strategic movements of direct rejection, discovery, avoidance, change, disruption, counter surveillance, cooperation, blocking and masking. Specifically with the Covid-19 pandemic, passing to distance learning has led us to be forced to handle all our necessary or pleasant things through the internet or to feel the need to download applications that have functional aspects such as the application "Life Home Refuge" but that make information compulsory, such as location information has made us feel more clear the facility/control duality. The aim of this research is also to learn about the supervision strategies of university students in the Covid-19 pandemic process. In accordance with the objective of the study, 14 university students will be discussed in depth.
