Abstract:

After 1961, Turkish workers who immigrated to Germany in order to save a lot of a Money in a short span of time, wanted to go back to their homeland even soon after their arrival upon saving the amount that they targeted. Yet their children; in a way, accustomed to the country that they were living in, and even most of them were really distant to the idea of returning back to Turkey, the country that they knew only from their holidays. The reason is these children came to germany at their very early ages or they were born and grew up there. Their homeland is different from their parents’ homelands. As can be seen, their ideas about returning are not in accordance with their parents’ ideas and this creates a new trouble. This trouble which is stil current, has been a subject in Children and Youth literature. The last days of theır return from Germany to Turkey and the problems that they met in their new homeland upon their arrival,the counrty that perhaps they even did not know has been main subjects. The works such as Annelies Schwarz’s 'Hamide Hamide’yi oynuyor', Taylan, König ve Straube’s 'Oya, Türkiye: Yabancı Vatan' and Gülten Dayıoğlu’s 'Geriye dönenler' reveals a general image of mankind of this era moving from the social structure of those times. In this context, how Turkish youth got stuck between German society and Turkish culture at home and especially the problems that Turkish female children faced are tried to exemplified considering the writers’ point of view in these works.
