Soil interacts with bedrock and other ecological factors. Some these factors are altitude, slope and aspect. These properties directly or indirectly affect some physical and chemical properties of the soil. This research was carried out around Erzurum Kuzgun Dam Lake in order to reveal the effects of physiographic characteristics on some important physical and chemical properties of soil and land use. Soil samples point (80 units) determined according to the altitude, slope and aspect and land use type using GIS. SPSS software was used to evaluate statistical analyses. The average height of the area varies between 2100-2400 m. When altitude groups and soil characteristics are evaluated; The tendency to decrease in clay content, organic matter content and aggregate stability as altitude increases, whereas; has been identified increasing trend in sand content, pH, phosphorus and soil erosion factor (K). The research area has a steeply sloping structure generally. This slopes groups are caused by constraints on existing plant diversity and negatively affects the rate of soil erosion. In general, the areas facing southern slopes are where the slope is high. In these areas, the negative effects of elevation and slope are also reflected in soil characteristics in a combined way. As the slope ratio increases reduction in clay rate, organic matter and aggregate stability; the increase tendency were determined with sand ratio and K factor. Sand ratio and K factor were found statistically significant increase in southern aspects. Depending on the land use, differences in organic matter content, K factor, aggregate stability, sand, silt and clay ratios were more influential with especially in physiographic factors. As a result, physiographic characteristics also play an important role in ensuring soil fertility. For this reason, it is important to minimize the adverse effects of physiographic factors help with soil conservation and restoration projects for sustainable land use, especially in watershed with has function of water production.
