Müfredat yükseköğretimde eğitim programının temel taşıdır ve öğrencilerin bilgi, beceri ve değerlerini şekillendirmede kritik bir rol oynamaktadır. Müfredat, yükseköğrenimdeki eğitim hedeflerini belirlemenin bir yolu, öğrencilerin belli bir dönem boyunca nasıl gelişmelerini sağlayacaklarına dair bir çerçeve sunmaktadır. Derslerin sıralaması, içeriği, sınavlar, ödevler ve performans ölçütleri, öğrencilerin ne kadar bilgi ve beceri kazandıklarını değerlendirmek müfredatla bağlantılıdır. Müfredatın etkin bir şekilde tasarlanması ve güncel tutulması, yükseköğretim kurumlarının başarısını ve mezunlarının niteliklerini etkilemektedir. Akreditasyon, bir üniversite bölümünün veya programının kalitesini ve uygunluğunu değerlendiren ve onaylayan bir dış denetim sürecini ifade etmektedir. Dolayısıyla yükseköğretim kurumları açısından akreditasyon kurumların sunduğu eğitimin kalite standartlarının yükseltilmesi bakımından büyük önem taşımaktadır. Akreditasyon uygulamalarının en çok üzerinde durduğu konuların başında müfredat gelmekte olup müfredatın paydaş istek ve beklentileri doğrultusunda güncellenmesi yoluna gidilmektedir. Buradan hareketle bu çalışma akredite olan halkla ilişkiler bölümlerini konu almakta ve bölümlerin müfredatlarının akreditasyon dolayısıyla ne ölçüde değişime uğradığını tespit etmektir. Araştırma, Türkiye’deki tüm halkla ilişkiler bölümlerinin müfredatlarının içerik analizi ile incelenmesi yöntemine dayanmaktadır. Akredite olan ve olmayan bölümler arasında karşılaştırmalı bir çalışma gerçekleştirilmiş olup değişimin ne ölçüde ve ne yönde olduğu anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır.
Accreditation studies, which have gained importance and momentum recently, have become one of the agenda items of public relations departments. Accreditation processes lead public relations departments to change in various aspects. One of the issues where change is effective is education curricula. Curricula constitute one of the important topics within the accreditation criteria of the Communication Education Evaluation Accreditation Board (İLEDAK), which is the accreditation institution. The Board encourages public relations programs to be restructured in line with the opinions and suggestions of internal and external stakeholders and updated at regular intervals. Therefore, it is important to research the phenomenon of accreditation in order to understand the changes in public relations education, especially in the curriculum dimension. The purpose of this study is to reveal the accreditation-based changes in the curricula of 88 public relations departments that continue their educational activities in Turkey as of 2023. For this purpose, the curricula of all public relations departments were examined by content analysis method. In the study, in which a comparative analysis of the curricula of accredited and non-accredited departments was made, in addition to presenting a descriptive picture, the existence of a relationship between accreditation and curriculum changes was sought. The findings reveal a triple course classification on the basis of curriculum. In accredited departments, while the weight of one group of courses increases, the weight of another group of courses remains at the same level and the weight of another group of courses decreases. If it is considered the rate of curriculum change as a whole, the resulting figure indicates a minimal level, corresponding to a difference of approximately 10 points in value and a difference of 23 points in percentage.
