Özet:

During the war between the Ottoman Empire and the Russian empire between the years of 1877 and 1878, Plevna, which is located within the borders of Bulgaria today, was besieged by the Russians in July 1877 until December 10. Although Osman Nuri Pasha, who was in command of the Turkish troops during the defense of Plevna, had a lack of supplies and was outnumbered to one-third in terms of soldiers and weapons, he gained great appreciation by successfully fighting against the Russians for five months. During this study we analyzed English newspapers in order to understand how the Siege of Plevna was transferred to the public. As sources we generally used English newspapers. The English press, which we chronologically followed in terms of the Siege of Plevna, tried to present their readers the events during the five month long defense from day to day by using different sources. Even though the newspapers provide various information about the events at the front, the relations of the parties with third party countries and different aspects of the war, it is not right to accept them as only source for a research on the Siege of Plevna.
