INTRODUCTION: This study is carried out as descriptive to determine economic violence-related experiences and attitudes towards women’s work of women hospitalized in a gynecology hospital. METHODS: The study population consisted of women patients hospitalized in a gynecology hospital between May and June 2015. The study sampling consisted of 109 patients who agreed to participate in the study. Data were collected using a personal information form and the Attitudes Towards Women’s Work Scale. Data were analyzed using percentage distributions, means, Independent Samples t test and ANOVA. RESULTS: In this study, the total score average of the women patients on attitudes towards women’s work scale was found to be 52.51 ± 6.91. According to the statistical analysis, it was found that the family structure (t=3.389, p=0.001), the place of residence (F=6.878, p=0.002), the women’s educational status (t=4.225, p=0.000), the women’s working status (t=3.908, p=0.000), the partner’s educational status (t=2.076, p=0.040) and having the partner who does not allow women to work (t=3.568, p=0.001) affected the attitudes towards women’s work of women in statistical significance. CONCLUSION: It can be concluded that the attitudes towards women’s work of the women patients participated in this study is lower. Having extended family structure, living in the village, having a low education level, not working in an income-generating work and the partner who does not allow women to work affect negatively the attitudes towards women’s work of women. It is recommended that midwives and nurses working obstetrics and gynecology services should determine women’s economic violence-related experiences and activate social support resources.
