Abstract:

When we look at the last few decades of the research field named as ‘translation studies’, it can be suggested that some affairs and developments in science and culture led to ‘translation studies’ based in Europe and especially in Germany. The developments in informatics, the transformation of the communicative action theory and communication studies, the reinterpretation of functionalism, the evolution of pragmatics, and the new developments in cognitive philosophy revealed new point of views. As a consequence of these points of views new focal points in the translation oriented thinking is named as ‘translation studies’, and therefore new studies called as ‘theory’ and ‘approach’ emerged. The point of views of theorists to the specific facts affect their attitudes to the object and perceptions. The theorists suggesting arguments on translation fact have various approaches and attitudes. Translation fact can be evaluated as ‘a completion of facts’ and ‘a complex fact’. ‘Translation’ representing a complex world is a complex fact. As a consequence of the complexity of translation fact‚ translation has been associated with psychology since the 90s. In this context the researches turned their attention to ‘translator’ placed in center. The researches oriented on the attitude and psychological state on which ‘translator’ based while producing ‘translation’. This article discusses with an overview the approaches arising from such questions as “What stages take a translator to a specific translation output, in other words to a specific translated text, under specific conditions?” or “What mental processes occur during translation?”
