Amaç: Tanımlayıcı nitelikteki bu araştırmanın amacı bir üniversite hastanesinde çalışan yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin karşılaştıkları etik sorunların hemşirelerin stres düzeylerine etkisini belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Araştırmanın örneklemini bir üniversite hastanesinin yoğun bakım ünitelerinde (YBÜ) çalışan ve araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 144 hemşire oluşturmuştur. Veriler; araştırmacılar tarafından literatür desteği ile hazırlanan tanıtıcı bilgi formu, Algılanan Stres Ölçeği ve Yoğun Bakım Hemşirelerinin Yaşadıkları Etik Sorunlar Formu ile toplanmıştır. Veriler Mann-Whitney U testi ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan hemşirelerin yaş ortalaması 29,06±4,02, hemşirelerin yoğun bakım ünitesinde çalışma yılı ortalaması 4,39±3,48 olup, hemşirelerin %86,1’inin etik ile ilgili eğitim aldığı ve çoğunluğunun (%87,9) bu eğitimi mezun oldukları okullarında aldıkları saptanmıştır. Yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan hemşirelerin karşılaştıkları etik sorunlar içerisinde en yüksek oranın “Mesleki hiyerarşide alt basamaklarda yer alanlara fazla iş yüklenmesi” (%91) olduğu belirlenmiştir. Hemşirelerin algılanan stres ölçeği puan ortalaması ise 22,38±4,52 olarak bulunmuş olup, sadece “Hekim tarafından yerine getirilmesi gereken uygulamaların hemşirelere devredilmesi” etik sorunu ile karşılaşanların karşılaşmayanlara göre algılanan stres düzeylerinin daha yüksek olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0,05). Sonuç: Bu araştırmada yoğun bakım hemşirelerinin etik sorunlarla sıklıkla karşılaştıkları, bu sorunların çoğunluğunu orta düzeyde önemsedikleri ve etik sorunların hemşirelerin stres algısını etkilediği saptanmıştır. Hemşirelerin karşılaştıkları her etik durumu profesyonel bir şekilde ele alarak değerlendirmesi ve çözümler geliştirmesi yaşanabilecek stres faktörlerinin önlenmesinde önemlidir.
Purpose: The objective of this research is to determine the impact of ethical problems faced by intensive care nurses working in a university hospital on the stress levels of nurses. Tools and Methods: The sample of the research was made by 144 nurses working in the intensive care units of a university hospital and agree to participate in the research. The data was collected with the indicative form of information prepared by researchers with the support of literature, the scale of detected stress and the form of ethical problems experienced by intensive care nurses. The data was analyzed by the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: The average age of nurses working in intensive care units is 29,06±4,02, the average working year of nurses in intensive care units is 4,39±3,48, and 86,1% of nurses have received ethical education and the majority (87,9%) have received this education in the schools where they graduated. Among the ethical problems that nurses working in intensive care units face, the highest rate is "excessive job burden on those in the lower stages of the professional hierarchy" (91%). The average score of the stress scale perceived by nurses was 22.38±4,52 and the stress levels perceived by those who encountered the ethical problem only "the practice to be carried out by the doctor" were higher than those who did not encounter (p<0,05). The study found that intensive care nurses often face ethical problems, most of these problems are concerned at a medium level, and ethical problems affect nurses’ stress perception. It is important for nurses to evaluate each ethical situation they encounter professionally and to develop solutions in preventing stress factors that may occur.
