Artan nüfus ile birlikte insan ihtiyaçlarının karşılanmasında inşaat sektörü kendisine bağlı 200 den fazla alt sektör ile ekonominin lokomotifi olma özelliğini taşımaktadır. Sektör bünyesinde birçok meslek dalını kapsaması nedeniyle iş gücü kapasitesi oldukça yüksektir. İnşaat sektörü, tüm dünyada olduğu gibi ülkemizde de en büyük ve tehlikeli sektörlerinden biridir. Günümüzde gelişen teknoloji ile büyüyen ihtiyaçların sonucu olarak çalışanlar daha fazla iş kazasına maruz kalmakta, çalışanların sağlığına ve iş güvenliğine yönelik tehlikeler artmaktadır. Sektörde yaşanan kazalar her yıl çok sayıda yaralanma ve can kaybı ile sonuçlanmaktadır. İnşaat sektörü iş kazalarının sayısal çokluğu ve ölümle sonuçlanan kazaları bakımından diğer iş kolları arasında ilk sırada yer almaktadır. Bu çalışmada 2008-2017 yılları arasında Türkiye genelinde ve inşaat sektöründe meydana gelen iş kazalarına ait veriler karşılaştırmalı olarak incelenerek analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca, ülkemiz inşaat sektörü için hesaplanan kaza sıklığı ve ölümlü kaza sıklığı değerleri Avrupa birliği üye ülkeleri ile karşılaştırılarak mevcut durum mukayese edilmiştir.
With the growing population, in meeting human needs, the construction sector has the characteristic of becoming a locomotive of the economy with more than 200 sub-sector connected to it. Because of the occupation of many branches in the sector, the capacity of the workforce is quite high. The construction sector is one of the largest and most dangerous sectors in our country, as in the world. As a result of the growing needs of today’s technology, workers are increasingly exposed to work accidents, increasing risks to workers’ health and safety. Accidents in the sector result in numerous injuries and deaths each year. The construction sector is ranked first among the other business arms in terms of the number of work accidents and death-resulting accidents. In this study, the data of the work accidents occurred throughout Turkey and the construction sector between 2008 and 2017 were comparatively analyzed. In addition, the number of accidents calculated for the construction sector in our country and the number of fatal accidents compared to the current situation in the EU member countries.

Today, with growing needs and developing technology, employees are exposed to more work accidents. In addition, the hazards to the health and safety of employees are increasing. As a result of accidents in the sector, many injuries and deaths occur every year. Construction sector is in the first place in terms of numerical multiplicity of work accidents and fatal accidents compared to other business lines. In this study, between the years 2008-2017 were analyzed by examining the data on occupational accidents in Turkey and in the construction industry. Besides, occupational accidents in Turkey, compared with the member countries of the European Union.
