Abstract The aim of the study is to bibliometrically reveal the current international status of the academic literature on tourism guidance. Web of Science (WOS) Social Sciences Index has been searched backwards from 2022 by years. Out of 7591 articles examined, 245 articles suitable for the scope of the study were analyzed. In the study conducted with a mixed method, Microsoft Excel was used in quantitative analysis and Wordstat Provalis 9.0.8 program was used in qualitative analysis. As a result, it has been observed that the articles were deficient in terms of their abstract content, the studies were mostly carried out using the qualitative research method, the average reference number was 57,514, there has been an increase in the number of articles published after 2010, the articles were mostly written in the disciplines of tourism, business management, education, sociology, psychology, and environmental sciences, there are more articles with two authors compared to others, the most contribution to the international literature has been made by authors from the United States and subjects have mostly focused on tourism experience, guide and tourist behaviour, interpreting services, cultural heritage and sites, sustainable tourism, digital and online guides, guide performance and satisfaction
