HEMŞİRE VE EBELERİN DUYGUSAL ZEKA DÜZEYLERİNİN TESPİTİNE YÖNELİK BİR ÇALIŞMA

Abstract:

Duygularla anlayabilme ve sorgulayabilme, duyguları düşünce içinde özümseyebilme, kendinde ve başkalarındaki duyguları düzenleyebilme yeteneği olarak tanımlanmakta olan “Duygusal Zeka” kavramı sağlık sektörü çalışanları için ayrı bir öneme sahiptir. Bu çalışmada hastane çalışanlarının duygusal zekâ düzeyleri alt boyutlar baz alınarak incelenmiştir. Araştırmada çalışanların duygusal zekâ düzeyleri arasında demografik unsurlara göre herhangi bir anlamlı farklılık olup olmadığı analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma, Çorum il merkezindeki eğitim ve araştırma hastanesinde hemşire ve ebe meslek gruplarında görev yapan çalışanları kapsamaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak 4 alt boyut ve toplam 27 sorudan oluşan anket kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların duygusal zeka düzeyleri Wong ve Law Duygusal Zekâ Ölçeği (WLEIS) ile ölçülmüştür. 278 sağlık çalışanın katılımıyla gerçekleştirilen araştırmada katılımcıların duygusal zekâ düzeyleri alt boyutlar bazında tespit edilmiş ve bu düzeylerin demografik değişkenlere göre anlamlı şekilde farklılık gösterip göstermediği incelenmiştir. Analizler SPSS 22.0 versiyonu ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda hemşire ve ebelerin duygusal zeka düzeyleri; cinsiyet, görev, istihdam türü ve gelir seviyesi değişkenlerine göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık göstermemektedir. Buna karşın; medeni durum, mesleki deneyim ve yaş grupları gibi demografik özelliklerin hemşire ve ebelerin duygusal zeka düzeylerinde anlamlı farklılıklara yol açtığı tespit edilmiştir.

Defined as a ability of understanding and questioning with emotions, assimilating emotions within thinking and regulating emotions in self and in others; the concept of "Emotional Intelligence" is of particular importance for healthcare professionals. In this study, emotional intelligence levels of hospital employees were examined on the basis of lower dimensions. Whether or not there was any significant difference between emotional intelligence levels of the employees according to demographic elements was analyzed. The study comprises employees working in nurse and midwife occupational groups in a training and research hospital in the city center of Corum. Data were collected using a questionnaire including 4 lower dimensions and a total of 27 questions. Emotional intelligence levels of the participants were measured via Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS). In the study which was implemented with the participation of 278 healthcare professionals, the emotional intelligence levels of the participants were determined on the basis of lower dimensions and whether or not those levels significantly differentiated were examined according to demographic variables. The analyses were performed with the SPSS version 22.0. As a result of the study, it was determined that emotional intelligence levels of the nurses and midwives did not significantly differ according to the variables of gender, task, type of employment and level of income. On the other hand; it was determined that demographic characteristics such as marital status, professional experience and age groups caused significant differences in emotional intelligence levels of the nurses and midwives.
