In the historical process, ancient civilizations sought to take advantage of the fascinating elixir of religion over society and government, from the state order to the establishment of justice. The Ottomans were also influenced by this fascinating power in ensuring peace in society, and they aimed to make their legitimacy dominant in the society by embellishing their customary power and authority with religious laws. Trying to take advantage of this situation, fake sayyids and sheriffs tried to gain income on the religious values of the people by taking advantage of some exemptions of the state. The central government had set up the institution of the prophet's descendants in the capital to investigate the complaints against those who claim to be sayyid and sheriff. Thus, the situation of those who abused the religious values of the people by introducing themselves as sayyids and sheriffs in various parts of the state were asked to this institution by the provincial administrators with an official letter and the decisions were made according to the answers. With the abolition of the sultanete, its institutional structure was ended. Purpose of the study; It is to indicate the measures taken by the central government to prevent the abuse of religious values by identifying false sayyids and sheriffs with the institution of the prophet's descendants. Due to complaints made to the imperial council about fake sayyids and sheriffs, the mühimme books were determined as the main source in the research.
