Bu çalışmada, 1974-2015 dönemi için Türkiye’de doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımları, ekonomik büyüme ile enerji ithalatı arasındaki ilişki yapısal kırılmalar altında araştırılmıştır. Doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımları ve ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi geçmiş birçok çalışmada incelenmiş olsa da üzerinde fikir birliğine varılamadığı görülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, geçmiş çalışmalardan farklı olarak enerji ithalatı da araştırma modeline dâhil edilmiş ve söz konusu faktörler arasındaki ilişki yapısal kırılmaları dikkate alan eşbütünleşme analizleri kullanılarak incelenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular yapısal kırılmalar altında Türkiye’de uzun dönemde doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımları, ekonomik büyüme ve enerji ithalatı arasında uzun dönemli ilişkinin varlığını ortaya koymaktadır. Ayrıca, elde edilen bulgular Türkiye’de doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımlarının enerji ithalatının nedeni olduğunu göstermiştir.
In this study, the association between foreign direct investment, economic growth and energy import in Turkey for the period 1974-2015 has been investigated under structural breaks. Though the relationship between foreign direct investment and economic growth has been investigated in many previous studies, it is seen that there is no consensus on it. In this study, unlike previous studies, energy import has been included into the research model and the relationship between these factors has been investigated using cointegration analyses that take structural breaks into account. Findings under structural breaks reveal the existence of the relationship between foreign direct investment, economic growth, and energy imports in Turkey in the long run. In addition, the results indicate that foreign direct investments cause energy imports in Turkey
