Abstract:

This study explores the impact of economic growth and primary energy consumption on carbon dioxide emissions. The study used data on the period 1965-2017 of Turkey uses the structural vector autoregression model. ADF, PP, Ng-Perron, and KPSS tests and stagnation analysis, the combination relationship between the variables was tested by the Johansen-Juselius method. Since it is intended to determine the long-term effects of independent variables on carbon emissions, the study has adopted a long-term limited structural VAR model. According to the findings, while there is mutual interaction between the variables, both economic growth and primary energy consumption have a positive impact on carbon emissions and have lasting results. However, it is among the findings that primary energy consumption increases carbon emissions more than growth, and that growth also affects primary energy consumption in a positive and permanent way.
