Bu çalışmanın amacı çağdaş toplumların sosyal ve kültürel yapılarını etkin bir şekilde belirleyen iki olgu üzerinde durarak içinde yaşanılan çağın ve toplumun açıklanması ve anlaşılmasına katkıda bulunmaktır. Bu amaca yönelik olarak gözlem ve literatür taraması tekniği kullanılmıştır. Buna göre çağdaş toplumların öne çıkan iki temel karakterinin sosyoekonomik, bilimsel ve teknolojik yapıda gelişen postendüstriyel toplum ile sosyokültürel ve ahlaki yaşamda ortaya çıkan postmodern toplum yapısı olduğu söylenebilir. Kültürel ve ahlaki yapının postmodern karakterine bakıldığında başlıca nitelikleri arasında aşırı bireyselleşme, göreceleşme ve nihayet doğrunun neredeyse ortadan kalktığı bir yapıyı ifade etmektedir. Buna karşılık postendüstriyel toplum ise bu alandaki akılcılaşma, planlama, bilimsel araştırma, teknolojik üretim ve benzeri unsurların öne çıktığı bir yapıyı ifade etmektedir. Bu iki yapının bir arada bulunduğu çağdaş toplum düzeni, bilim ve kültür arasında bir çatışmayı üretmektedir. Çünkü, postendüstriyel toplumun bilimsel, teknik ve akılcı boyutu topluma doğru, mutlak ve sağlıklı bir yaşam alanı sunarken, postmodern toplumun rölativist ve müphem yapısı, kuşkucu ve kararsız bir kültürel yaşam alanı sunmaktadır. Dolayısıyla çağdaş toplumun bir yanda doğruyu, güveni ve aklı telkin eden boyutu ile diğer yanda göreceliği ve kuşkuyu öne çıkaran boyutu arasında düşünsel ve ahlaki bir çatışmanın varlığından söz edilebilir.
The aim of this study is to contribute to the explanation and understanding of the age and society in which it is experienced, based on two facts that effectively determine the social and cultural structures of contemporary societies. For this purpose, observation and literary scan techniques have been used. According to this, it can be said that the two main characteristics of contemporary societies are the post-industrial society that develops in the socio-economic, scientific and technological structure and the post-modern social structure that arises in the socio-cultural and moral life. With regard to the postmodern character of the cultural and moral structure, its main qualities represent a structure in which excessive individualization, proportionality and ultimately truth is almost disappeared. On the contrary, post-industrial society represents a structure in which logic, planning, scientific research, technological production and similar elements stand out in this field. The contemporary social order, in which these two structures are combined, produces a conflict between science and culture. For the scientific, technical and intellectual dimension of the post-industrial society provides the society with a proper, absolute and healthy living space, while the relyativist and mutual structure of the post-modern society provides a doubtful and unstable cultural living space. Therefore, it is possible to mention the existence of a mental and moral conflict between the dimension of the contemporary society, on the one hand, the truth, the confidence and the reason, and the dimension of the proportionality and the doubt, on the other.
