Abstract:

Türkiye, son yıllarda çevresindeki ülkelerde yaşanan çatışma ve savaşların etkisiyle uluslararası göç hareketliliğinde hedef ülkelerden biri haline gelmiştir. Türkiye’nin 2011’den bu yana savaş içerisinde olan Suriye’ye coğrafi yakınlığı ve uluslararası alanda bölgedeki sorunların çözümünde aktif rol oynaması, Türkiye’ye yönelik Suriyeli göçünü beraberinde getirmiştir. Bu gelişmelerle birlikte mültecilik alanı sosyal hizmetin güncel çalışma alanlarından biri haline gelmiştir. Zorunlu göç edenler içerisinde üniversitelerde öğrenim gören Suriyeli öğrenciler de yer almaktadır. Savaş nedeniyle ülkemize göçün artmasıyla üniversitelerdeki mülteci öğrenci sayısını da giderek artmaktadır. Mülteci üniversite öğrencileri ile ilgili literatürdeki bilgiler sınırlıdır ve yapılan çalışmalar yok denecek kadar azdır. Kurumların ve öğrencilerin yaşadığı süreci sosyal hizmet bakış açısıyla analiz etmek alana dair sorunların irdelenmesinde ve çözümler üretilmesinde önemlidir. Suriyeli mülteci üniversite öğrencilerinde sosyal dışlanma sorununun çok boyutlu olarak araştırıldığı bu çalışmada 19.04.2018 - 08.06.2018 tarihleri arasında Uşak Üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 224 Suriyeli öğrenciden kartopu örnekleme yöntemi ile belirlenen 10 kadın ve 10 erkek olmak üzere 20 öğrenciyle yüz yüze derinlemesine görüşmeler yapılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilere içerik analizi ve tematik analiz uygulanmıştır. Suriyeli öğrencilerin ekonomik, mekânsal, şehir temelli, kültürel, eğitim, sağlık gibi boyutlarda sosyal dışlanma algıladığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca, üniversiteli Suriyelilerin mülteci olmaktan kaynaklanan sorunları yükseköğrenim sürecindeki eğitimsel sorunlarla birleştiğinde çoklu dezavantajlılığa neden olmaktadır.

Turkey has become one of the target countries in international migration mobility due to the impact of conflicts and wars in the surrounding countries in recent years. The geographical proximity of Turkey to Syria, which has been in war since 2011, and its active role in solving the problems in the region on the international scale, has brought with it the Syrian migration to Turkey. With these developments, the refugee area has become one of the current work areas of social services. Forced immigrants include Syrian students who study at universities. As the number of migrants in our country is increasing, the number of refugees in the universities is increasing. The information in the literature concerning refugee university students is limited and the studies done are too little to disappear. The process that institutions and students are experiencing is important to analyze from a social service point of view in addressing the issues related to the area and in producing solutions. In this study, where the issue of social exclusion in Syrian refugee university students is multi-dimensional research, 224 Syrian students who studied at the Ushak University between 19.04.2018 and 08.06.2018 were conducted by faced-to-face conversations with 20 students, including 10 women and 10 men, identified by the method of cartouche sampling. The data is subject to content analysis and thematic analysis. It has been seen that Syrian students perceive social exclusion in dimensions such as economic, spatial, urban, cultural, education, health. In addition, the problems arising from being a refugee for university Syrians lead to multiple disadvantages when they are combined with educational problems in the higher education process.

Along with these developments, the refugee field has become one of the current working areas of social work. Among the forced immigrants, there are also Syrian students studying at universities. With the increase in immigration toTurkey due to the war, the number of these refugee students in universities is also increasing. Information in the literature on refugee university students is limited and the studies conducted are almost nonexistent. In order to examine the problems in the field and produce solutions, it is important to analyze the processes experienced by institutions and students from a social work perspective. This study, in which social exclusion was investigated in many dimensions among Syrian refugee university students, was conducted through face-to-face interviews with 20 students determined by the snowball sampling method from 224 Syrian students studying between 19.04.2018 and 08.06.2018. The data were analyzed using content analysis and thematic analysis method. The results of the analysis indicated that Syrian students perceive social exclusion in such dimensions as economic, spatial, city-based, education and health. In addition, when the problems of Syrian university students arising from being refugees combined with educational problems in higher education, they cause multiple disadvantages
