Abstract:

In the Egean region within the Mediterranean phytocographical region, the variety of species is quite rich because it has climate, land characteristics and various elevations and these plants are used by humans. In this study, 47 publications were evaluated from the publications in the field of ethnobotanic and traditional plant use in the region, which passed the traditional names of trees. It has been found that 390 local names of 96 trees taxons, which are traditional use in the Egean region, have been given. These numbers can also be considered as an indicator of the well-known species of trees in the area. 35 of the trees are registered with a plant name (fitonim). Especially known for the use of their fruits since the very ancient times; garlic, cottage, cottage, garlic, olive and pepper can be given an example of this. In some areas of the region, the same species is given different names as different species are mentioned with the same local name. From these common names, the name "Celtic" was found to be used for species Celtis australis L. and Pistacia terebinthus L., the name "Red" was found to be used for species Cornus mas L., Crataegus monogyna Jacq., Juniperus oxycedrus L. It is also known as the Pinus brutia Ten. It is known as Pinus nigra J. F. Arnold. by subsp. The Lamb (Lamb) The Holmboe species are also called by common names as flowers. As a result, there are many trees that are important for traditional use in the area and there is an important accumulation of plants as well.
