Anahtar Kelimeler: Anatomik landmark, Panoramik Radyografi, Bilgi Düzeyi LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF DENTISTS IN EVALUATION OF ANATOMIC LANDMARKS ON PANORAMIC RADIOGRAPHY ABSTRACT   Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledge of dentists in the evaluation of anatomic landmarks on panoramic radiography. Materials and Methods: A total of 53 dentists working in public dental hospitals, universities, and private practice were included in this study. The dentists’ level of knowledge related to anatomical landmarks was determined according to whether correct answers were given to the anatomical locations on panoramic radiographs. The relationship between the rate of correct answers and factors, including age, gender, experiences, profession, and working institutions, were statistically determined via the Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis tests. p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Statistically significant differences were observed in the number of correct answers of 53 dentists (25 females and 28 males, mean age 33.5±8.7) with respect to the age and experience subgroups (p < 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the gender, working institution, and experience subgroups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Dentists are required to take measurements for keeping dental information fresh throughout the dentist’s professional life. Abstract:

The aim of this study was to determine the level of knowledge of dentists in the assessment of anatomical formations in panoramic radiography. Tools and Methods: 53 dentists working in public, university and private clinics are included in our study.  According to the answer that the anatomical locations in the panoramic radiography were given correctly or not, the level of information on the anatomical formations of the dentists was determined. The relationship between the correct response rates and factors such as age, gender, professional experience, the institution in which it works and the field of expertise is statistically determined using the Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis test. P<0.05 is statistically meaningful. Results: 25 women and 28 men in the study found statistically significant differences in the number of correct answers to questions in the subgroups, such as the average age (33.5±8.7) and professional experience (p<0.05). The differences in the number of correct answers were not statistically meaningful in the subgroups of gender, the institution and the fields of expertise in which they worked (p<0.05). The result: Dentists need to take measures to keep their information fresh throughout their professional life.
