Türkistan bölgesi, eski tarihlerden beri Türklerin önemli yerleşim alanlarından biri olmuştur. Bu bölgede birçok Türk şehri kurulmuş ve Türk tarihinde önemli bir bölge haline gelmiştir. Türkistan’da yer alan Hive şehri, bölgenin önemli şehirlerinden biri olması nedeniyle birçok misyon tarafından ziyaret edilmiştir. Bu misyonlardan biri de Nikolay Nikolayeviç Muraviev’dir. Bu çalışmayla birlikte N. N. Muraviev’in gözünden XIX. yüzyılda Hive şehri ele alınacaktır. Çalışma kapsamında öncelikle Türkistan Hanlıklarının şehir yapısı ele alınmış ardından Hive Şehri’nin fiziki yapısı, etnik yapısı ve nüfusu, ticari ve iktisadi hayatı ve sosyal ve entelektüel hayatı incelenmiştir. Temel kaynak olarak, bölgeye görev amaçlı giden ve raporunda Hive hakkında detaylı bilgi veren N. N. Muraviev’in Putoşestviye v Turkmenyu i Hivu 1819 i 1820 eseri seçilmiştir. Muraviev’in Hive’yi ziyaret ettiği dönem göz önünde bulundurularak, konu XIX. yüzyılla sınırlandırılmıştır. Çeşitli misyonların aktardığı bilgiler incelenerek Hive şehrinin bir analizi yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında Hive’nin XIX. yüzyılda ticari, mimari ve entelektüel açısından oldukça gelişmiş olduğu ve ortak kimliği sağlayan İslamiyet ile beraber kazanılan ortak düşünce sistemi ve hayat anlayışının şehir dokusuna yansımış olduğu görülmektedir.
The Turkistan region has since ancient history been one of the major settlements of the Turks. Many Turkish cities have been established in this region and have become an important area in Turkish history. The city of Hive, located in Turkistan, has been visited by many missions because it is one of the major cities in the region. One of these missions is Nikolay Nikolayevich Muraviev. This work is accompanied by the eyes of N. N. Muraviev. In the century the city of Hive will be dealt with. In the framework of the study first discussed the urban structure of the Turkish Hanks and then the physical structure, ethnic structure and population of the Hive City, commercial and economic life and social and intellectual life. As a basic source, N. N. travels to the area for mission purposes and provides detailed information about Hive in the report. Muraviev's Putoşestviye v Turkmenyu i Hivu 1819 i 1820 was chosen. Given the period in which Muraviev visited Hive, the issue is XIX. limited to a century. The information transmitted by various missions was tried to do an analysis of the city of Hive. Within the scope of the study, firstly the city structure of the Turkestan Khanates was discussed, then the physical appearance, ethnic structure and population, commercial and economic life and social and intellectual life of the City of Khiva were examined. As the main source, N. N. Muraviev's work Putoşestviye v Turkmenyu i Hivu 1819 i 1820, who went to the region for a mission and gave detailed information about Khiva in his report, was chosen. Considering the period when Muraviev visited Khiva, the subject is XIX. century limited. In this study, it is seen that the common thought system and understanding of life gained with Islam, which provided a common identity in the XIX century, is reflected in the urban fabric.
