Abstract:

Due to natural and human reasons, changes occur in the shoreline. It is important to detect the change and to monitor the process in the shoreline due to the deterioration in the natural structure. In this study, the temporal change of the shoreline between Çam Cape and Gül Cape and the use of the coastal after this change were examined. In the study, analog aerial photographs, orthophoto images and high resolution satellite images provided by Google Earth Pro software were used. With these images, shorelines for the years 1956, 1975, 2013 and 2020 were produced using ArcGIS 10.8.1 software. By superimposing these data, the areas where progress and regression are seen on the shoreline are determined periodically. In particular, many coves were filled with the Black Sea Coastal Road Project and steep ridges were excavated and split. Seafloor morphology has changed with the filling processes. With the digging operations, the coastal topography has changed. It has been determined that natural coasts have turned into artificial coasts in the study area. In addition, the changes in the wave and current systems have affected the erosion and accumulation areas.
