Abstract:

Hasan Ali Toptaş's novel "The Shadows" has been a very remarkable work since the beginning, and many studies have been done about it. The work studied from various aspects has been suggested that it can also be evaluated in the context of archetypes that express the structural objects of the collective out-consciousness, which are often referred to into the facts related to consciousness and unconsciousness. In fact, the rich archaeological elements which it contains and their tasavouffic calls, the scale of the novel, which can also be addressed from the archaeological symbolism, with this work, aims to reveal the symbolic aspect of the novel. In the study, after information was given about the writer and his novel, he was referred to the archetypes. The archetypes are focused on the appearances and symbol formations in literary works. The shadows, in general, were studied in the framework of Jung’s opinions on the archetypes in part by Pearson. Using them, the archetypes in the novel have been identified and the symbolic responses have been identified. The heroes in the novel, the spaces, the objects, the beings and the events in the context of the archaeological symbols are found in the assessments. The work is an example of a story that is worth examining from the archaeological symbolism, and it has been concluded that more detailed and large-scale studies on this subject can be done.
