The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of teaching with hands-on activities on students’ achievement and attitudes in 7th grade algebra learning. This quantitative study was designed as a semi- experimental pretest-posttest research. During the application, while courses were taught through worksheets and materials that consisted of hands-on activities in the experimental group, in the control group, the traditional teaching with presentations were used. The research was carried out with 62 7th grade students in a secondary school in Manavgat, Antalya. To collect data, mathematics achievement test and attitude scale were used. The obtained data were scored and analyzed by the researcher according to a pre-prepared rating scale. According to the analysis, it has been identified that the teaching done with hands-on activities was more successful than the traditional teaching method in terms of increasing student achievement in mathematics and attitudes towards mathematics.
