Abstract:

Objective: Doctors are involved in the main problems they face in the workplace. The aim of our study is to determine the frequency and characteristics of the violence that doctors experience at work and to determine the relationship of the violence with the doctor's job satisfaction, probability of suicide and extinction levels. Method: 418 volunteer doctors who are working in the Pendik district of Istanbul have participated in this work, which is designed in characteristic characteristics and cut-outs. The data is collected through the survey. The survey, which includes sociodemographic information and questions about the exposed violence, applied the Minnesota Business Doyum Scale, Suicide Probability Scale and Maslach Extinction Scale. Results: 58.4 percent of participants have been subjected to violence in the last year and have shown that the gender, age, title, institution, year of work, and section characteristics of violence have made significant differences. According to the doctors who have been exposed to violence in the past year, the levels of emotional extinction, insensitivity and suicide are higher and the levels of job satisfaction and personal success are lower. In order to prevent and reduce the potential effects of violence against health workers and doctors, changes in the health policies implemented, improvement of working conditions, reorganization of the health environment, primarily emergency, and a repressive law that the Turkish Medical Association has been promoting for years must be adopted. In addition, the health workers should be given "health violence" courses throughout their training on violence and continuous medical training, with the support of the media and the state, the awareness of violence to the health workers should be increased, and it should be emphasized that managers should avoid speaking disrespectful to the profession.
