Abstract:

This study examined the position of health tourism, tourism sector and the country’s economies. The main objective of this study is to analyze the current situation of medical tourism in Turkey. In this direction, deep discussions were conducted with health tourists and professionals working in the health sector. The data obtained from the discussions was analyzed through thematic content analysis.  The research has revealed the strong and weak aspects of our country in the field of medical tourism. The importance of this study is that instead of presenting the topic with a single-sided perspective of health tourists or health workers, it is trying to address them all from a comprehensive perspective. The findings obtained and the current situation of our country with a great potential in the health sector have been analyzed and therefore recommendations have been presented to contribute to the development of medical tourism in Turkey.
