Abstract:

Motivation is the driving force for reaching a goal. Students' motivation to learn chemistry will give clues about the success of chemistry education. In this study, 25-item Chemistry Motivation Scale was used. The cronbach alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.931. In the study; income, gender, grade level, parental education level and whether the graduate high school chemistry differentiates chemistry motivation. The research was carried out on students who were studying at the Kocaeli Vocational School Chemistry program. The sample consists of 125 students. As a result of the study, it was seen that gender and income variable affected students' chemistry motivations. It was determined that the level of class, the level of parents' education and the high school did not differentiate the chemistry motivation. This result; When evaluated in terms of our country and cultural aspects, it can be interpreted that studying in chemistry department will lead to differences such as career, success, wage and status and will contribute to chemistry motivation. It is recommended that the studies to be carried out related to chemistry motivation should be designed as qualitative or mixed research. Also; It is considered that training in outdoor activities (outdoor) will increase the motivation of students. It is aimed to scale university students’ leisure time activities…..In addition, it was studied to determine the order of preference of leisure time activities by scaling according to students gender, class, location type and socioeconomic level variables. Research was conducted in 20142015 academic year spring on a total of 1457 students from various faculties. 64.2% of respondents (N=936) were female, 35.8% (N=521) were composed of male students. The data collection tool which has been specifically developed for this study by the researchers.
