Abstract:

The purpose of this research was to develop a measurement tool to determine the good citizenship cognitive and affective levels of the secondary school 7th grade students. The other research studies in the literature were examined in terms of the purpose of the study and the scale development stages were carried out. Thus the 19-item "Middle School Good Citizenship Cognitive Scale" and the 33-item "Middle School Good Citizenship Affective Scale" were prepared in a 5-point Likert type. The prepared scales were applied to 600 seventh grade students studying at secondary schools in the central districts of Antalya in the 2022-2023 academic year. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was applied on the obtained data set, and it was found out that a one-dimensional structure of 14 items for the cognitive scale and a one-dimensional structure of 16 items for the Affective Scale were obtained. Then, using the scale form created from the scale items obtained as a result of EFA, the CFA study of the scales was carried out with 300 people. As a result of Confirmatory Factor Analysis; it was concluded that cognitive scale and affective scale items showed a high level of agreement, and the structure discovered by EFA was confirmed properly. As a result, it is possible to say that a valid and reliable scale has been obtained to determine the good citizenship cognitive and affective levels of the secondary school students.
