Abstract:

Abstract The present research intends to elaborate a brief analysis of the path of the Church, working on three concepts: primacy, collegiality and synodality. The Second Vatican Council brought a new awareness of the importance of episcopal collegiality as a manifestation of ecclesial communion. With the prospects of aggiornamento and dialogue, the Second Vatican Council placed itself in an attitude of availability in search of answers to the demands of a humanity in the process of profound and global transformation. Assuming the conciliar ecclesiology, Pope Francis understands that a synodal Church integrates all the baptized, the Episcopal College and, within that, the ministry of the Bishop of Rome. The reception of the conciliar ecclesiology rescues the meaning of synodality and places the episcopal principle within the larger scope of ecclesiality. An all synodal Church nurtures the awareness that its members need to walk together, assuming the dynamism of communion in decisions and adapting pastoral action to the current mission of the Church.
