Toplumu oluşturan iki cinsiyetten biri olan kadına yönelik tutum ve davranışlar dünya genelinde ülkelerin gelişmişlik düzeyine bağlı değişiklik göstermektedir. Cinsiyet ayrımcılığı her ne kadar gelişmiş batı ülkelerinde tamamen ortadan kaldırılamamış olsa da, az gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkelerdeki durum vahim bir tabloyu gözler önüne sermektedir. Kadın erkek ayrımı üzerinden yükselen ve baskı içeren eğilim, toplumsal demokrasinin oluşmasını temelden zedelemektedir. Oysa demokratik toplumların temeli olan basının, toplum üzerindeki etkisini onu geliştirici ve biçimlendirici bir vizyonla göstermesi beklenmektedir. Nitekim basın toplumun aynası olarak nitelendirilmekte dolayısıyla, toplumdaki cinsiyetçi bakış üzerinde pay sahibi olmaktadır. Bu düşünceden hareketle, yazılı basında en yüksek tirajlı ulusal gazeteler, Sabah, Hürriyet, Sözcü, Posta, Türkiye ve Yeni Şafak, haber seçimlerindeki cinsiyet ayrımcılığı bağlamında incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, kadının haberde cinsiyeti dolayısıyla bir figür olarak değil, bizatihi özne olarak ne oranda yer alabildiğinin görünür kılınmasıdır. Bu kapsamda inceleme, rastgele bir tarih seçimiyle 25- 31 Ekim 2018 tarihleri arasında kadınların çeşitli alanlardaki başarıları ve şiddet mağduru olarak haberde yer alışlarıyla sınırlandırılmıştır. İçerik analizi ve nicel araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak elde edilen veriler karşılaştırılarak yazılı basında kadın haberlerinin genel bir profili çıkarılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, gazeteler arasında kadın özneli başarı haberlerine yer verme oranlarında 6 kat, kadına yönelik şiddete yer verme oranlarında 2 kat farklılık görünür kılınmıştır. Bu anlamlı farklılık kadın başarılarının haberleştirilmesinde dikkat çekici bir ayrımcılığı işaret etmektedir.
The attitude and behavior towards women, one of the two gender groups, changes depending on the level of development of countries around the world. Although gender discrimination has not been completely eliminated in the developed Western countries, the situation in the less developed and developing countries shows a terrible picture. The tendency that rises over female and male discrimination and is under pressure fundamentally undermines the formation of social democracy. However, the press, which is the foundation of democratic societies, is expected to show its influence on society with a developmental and formative vision. In fact, as the press is described as the mirror of society, it has a part in the gender perspective in society. By moving from this thought, the highest tirage national newspapers in the written press, Sabah, Hürriyet, Sözcü, Posta, Turkey and New Dawn, have been studied in the context of gender discrimination in the news elections. The purpose of the study is to make it clear in the news not as a figure because of her gender, but how much she can be included as a bizarre essence. In this context, the review is limited to the successes of women in various fields and the publication of victims of violence between 25 and 31 October 2018 by random selection of dates. Comparing data obtained using content analysis and quantitative research method, a general profile of women’s news has been drawn out in the written press. As a result, between the newspapers there was a difference of 6 times the rate of publication of women’s success news and 2 times the rate of publication of violence against women. This significant difference indicates a remarkable discrimination in communicating women’s successes.
Attitudes and behaviours towards women, one of the two genders creating the society, vary depending on the development levels of the countries around the world. Although gender discrimination has not been completely eliminated in the developed western countries, the situation in underdeveloped and developing countries on the other hand reveals really a dire picture. The tendency rising from the men and women discrimination, and which also consists of oppression, fundamentally undermines the formation of social democracy. However, The press, which is the basis of the democratic societies, is expected to show its impact on society with its developing and formative visions. Since because the press is defined as the mirror of the society, it has obviously an utmost effect on the sexist view of society as well. With this view; the highest-circulation national newspapers such as Sabah, Hürriyet, Sözcü, Posta and Yeni Safak have been studied in the context of gender discrimination at news selections. The aim of this study is definitely to make it visible that how much women can take part in the news, not as a figure, but particularly as a subject. In this context, the study has been limited with the participation of the women in the news, not only with their achievements in various fields but also as a victim of violence on the randomly selected dates between October 25-31, 2018. A general profile of women news at written press have been created by comparing the data obtained from content analysis and quantitative evaluation methods also. As a result, 6 fold differences at the rate of achievement stories news and 2 fold differences at the violence against women news have been made visible among the news printed on the newspapers. This significant difference indicates a remarkable discrimination in reporting the women's achievements.
