Abstract:

People have been constantly seeking to express their feelings, thoughts, ideas and knowledge since their existence. One of our basic needs can be communicated in different ways. People explain their events, thoughts, and feelings with the words, forms, images that exist in their worlds. In the age of information we are in, it is expected that individuals have the ability to access the information themselves, to question the information, to use the information they obtain and to have the ability to think scientifically. The greatest responsibility in educating individuals who are able to use knowledge and technology lies to teachers, and therefore to teachers of information technology (BT). Because the views of the managers in the schools in which the IT teachers are responsible are different, the value given to the computer teacher in each school is different. In schools, it is a mistake to consider the teacher of IT as a technician, technical element, official. The purpose of the research is to try to determine what school managers see IT teachers as, with which schemes they imagine in their minds. The participants of the research designated as a qualification are composed of 88 school managers/administrators who work in Tokat or central schools. In the framework of the research, the survey was applied to school managers to produce metaphors and the data collected was analyzed by content analysis. According to the findings from the survey, 65 different metaphors were produced from 83 current surveys. The produced metaphors are divided into ten different groups according to their meaning. In these groups, the IT teacher is metaphorized as the most "savior". This group has followed facility providers, guiding/guiding metaphors respectively. There was no meaningful difference between gender, vocational age and the metaphors of whether or not IT teachers in schools.
