Uygarlık süreci, teknoloji alanında yaşanan gelişmeler gerek ekonomik, sosyal ve kültürel değişimleri getirmiş gerekse de bu dönüşümlerin itme gücüyle yeni yaklaşımlar ve oluşumların ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bu oluşum alanlarından biri de sinemadır. Sinema da ortaya çıkan bu oluşum alanı çeşitli düşünsel gruplar, okul veya alana özgü bir dergi öncülüğünde olmuştur.. Bu oluşumların temel amaçları ise içinde bulunulan dönemin sosyal, siyasal ve kültürel ihtiyaçlarına karşılık verebilecek anlatılar sunmaktır. Mevcut olan bu oluşumlardan biriside yayınladığı manifestoyla adını duyuran Dogma 95 akımıdır. Film yapımının ancak belli kurallar çerçevesinde çekilebileceğini belirten Dogma 95 akımı, ana akım sinemayı illüzyon sineması olarak nitelemektedir. Bu akıma göre ana akım sinema, şaşalı görsel unsurları kullandığı ancak buna karşın içi boş filmlerin üretildiği bir mecradır. Dogma 95 akımına göre, sinema filmi çeken yönetmenin asli görevinin, yapay aksiyon ve yapay karakterlerle bir ilizyon yaratmaktan çok anlatıdaki gerçeği ortaya çıkarmak olmalıdır. Geleneksel sinema anlatı yapısını karşısında yer alan bu akım sinemada saflığı ve ‘‘iffet yemini’’ gibi bir söylemle ahlaki değerlere vurgu yaparak arınmayı savunmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ana akım sinemaya karşı bir tutum sergileyen Dogma 95 akımına açıklık getirmek ve yayınlandığı manifesto doğrultusunda Lars von Trier tarafından çekilen “Budalalar” filminin anlatı özellikleri bakımından, akımının manifestosunda belirttiği özellikleri taşıyıp taşımadığını saptamaktır. Çalışmada yöntem olarak, Bordwell ve Thompson tarafından geliştirilen neoformalist yaklaşım kullanılmıştır.
The civilization process, the developments in the field of technology have brought economic, social and cultural changes, but with the power of these transformations, new approaches and formations have been revealed. One of these areas is the cinema. This formation field that emerged in the cinema has been in the leadership of various mental groups, school or field-specific magazine.The main objective of these formations is to provide stories that can meet the social, political and cultural needs of the period. It is the Dogma 95 stream, which is named by the manifesto that it published in one of these formations. The Dogma 95 stream describes the main stream cinema as the illusion cinema, saying the film can only be drawn under certain rules. According to this stream, the main stream cinema is a mecrad that uses amazing visual elements but nevertheless empty films are produced. According to the Dogma 95 stream, the original task of the filmmaker should be to reveal the truth in the story rather than to create an illusion with artificial action and artificial characters. This stream, which stands in front of the traditional film narrative structure, defends the cleansing by emphasizing the moral values with a speech like purity in the film and "iffet jury". The aim of this study is to clarify the Dogma 95 stream, which shows a attitude to the mainstream cinema, and to determine whether the stream carries the characteristics indicated in the manifesto, in terms of the narrative characteristics of the film "Budals" drawn by Lars von Trier according to the manifesto in which it is published. As a method in the study, the neo-formalist approach developed by Bordwell and Thompson was used.

One of these formations is the Dogme 95 movement, which opposes the traditional and contemporary narrative with its manifesto. The Dogme 95 movement, which states that filmmaking can only be performed within certain rules, defines cinema as an illusion cinema and sees it as a medium where high-colored visual elements are used to produce hollow movies. According to this movement, the main duty of the director who shoots the movie should be to reveal the truth in the narrative rather than creating an illusion with artificial action and artificial characters. The aim of this study is to clarify the concept of "Dogma 95", which exhibits an contrary attitude towards mainstream cinema, and to determine whether the movie "Idiots”, which was directed by Lars von Trier and shot in line with the manifesto, bears the characteristics of the movement in terms of narrative features. The neo-formalist approach developed by Bordwell and Thompson was used as the method for this study.
