Amaç- Araştırmanın amacı, ABD hava taşıyıcılarının kaza sayıları ile AB hava taşıyıcılarının kaza sayıları arasında ilişki olup olmadığını saptamaktır. Yöntem- 2009-2018 yılına ait 10 yıllık veriler Avrupa Havacılık Emniyeti Ajansı’nın 2019 Yılı Emniyet Raporu (EASA Annual Review 2019) ve Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Ulaştırma Bakanlığı’nın Ulaşım İstatistikleri Bürosu (Bureau of Transportation Statistics) web sitelerinden elde edilmiş olup bağımsız örneklemler için t-testi analizi ile incelenmiştir. Pandeminin havacılık sektöründe yarattığı krizin çalışma sonucunu olumsuz etkilememesi adına veriler 2018 yılına kadar olan süreyi kapsamaktadır. Ana evreni küresel çapta meydana gelen tüm uçak kazaları oluştururken, örneklem ABD ve AB ile sınırlı kalmıştır. Veri elde etmenin zorluğu sebebiyle çalışmada yalnızca AB ve ABD’ye ilişkin verilerinin kullanılması kısıt oluşturmaktadır. Bulgular- AB ve ABD’de meydana gelen kaza sayıları arasında bağımsız örneklemler t testi sonucunda istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamamıştır. Sonuç- Araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda uygulanan bağımsız örneklem t testi sonucu iki grup arasında anlamlı farklılık tespit edilmemiştir. Bunun sebebi söz konusu iki grubun eğitim, kalifiye işgücü, teknoloji ve ekonomik güç bakımından benzer özelliklere sahip olmasıdır.
Purpose- The motivation of this research is to determine whether there is a relationship between the number of accidents in the European Union and the United States. Methodology- In the study, transparently published data from the United States of America and the European Union were examined and used. In the evaluation of the data, independent samples t-test analysis method was used. The data covers the period from 2009 until 2018 so that the crisis created by the pandemic in the aviation sector does not adversely affect the results of the study. Due to the difficulty of obtaining data, the use of only EU and USA data is a limitation in the study. Findings- As a result of the independent samples t test, no statistically significant difference was found between the number of accidents in the EU and the USA. Conclusion- There was no significant difference between the two groups as a result of the independent sample t-test applied in line with the purpose of the study. The reason for this is that the two groups have similar characteristics in terms of education, qualified workforce, technology and economic power.
