Abstract:

The aim of the study is to determine expectations of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University Tourism Faculty students from the department they study in. For this purpose, it has been analyzed whether the expectations of the students differ according to their demographic characteristics (gender, department and year). The evaluation of the current situation from the students' point of view provides a different perspective to the faculty leadership and offers a versatile evaluation opportunity. To collect data on the students of the Faculty of Tourism, who made up the sample of the study, a questionnaire was applied, and the data obtained were subjected to statistical processing. The obtained data show that the level of students' knowledge about the department was low or even absent before application. As a result of the students' evaluation of the teaching staff according to various criteria, "library facilities" received the highest average score, and "employment opportunities after graduation" received the lowest average score. Statistically significant differences were also found between students' departments and the year of study, their priorities and expectations. The results obtained, on the one hand, can help the faculty and university leadership in terms of the right strategies to follow when informing future students about the teachers' and faculties' preferences; on the other hand, it is believed that current students can shed light on the decisions of university and enterprises both in terms of universities' physical and educational capabilities, and in terms of their easier adaptation to the industry after graduation
