Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to identify their trends by doing the content analysis of graduate theses related to visual arts at the primary education level in Turkey. For this purpose, key words related to primary education and visual arts from the YÖK National Thesis Data Center have been analyzed with content analysis within the framework of 84 thesis qualification research. This research is limited to the dissertations made from the past to the end of 2016 by selecting "licensed" theses from the status of access permission. The theses in the research were studied in terms of consultant title, history, university, department, level, method, group selection, working group level, working group size, data collection tools, recommendations, keywords, researchers’ gender, the number of domestic and foreign sources. The findings are presented with frequency and code tables. According to the results of the research, the majority of the postgraduate thesis writers related to visual arts at the level of primary education in Turkey are women, the majority of the thesis consultants are Yrd. and do. The doctor's title has, the dissemination of the thesis printing date according to the years, the thesis has been made in 2011, the thesis has been written in the University of Gazi, the thesis has been written in the painting-work teaching department, the thesis has been written in the master's level. In terms of the method of the theses, the highest emphasis is given to the qualification theses, the work group is working with many primary school students, the data analysis methods of the qualification research are performed in many content analysis and document analysis; the quantitative research has been used SPSS. When the theses are examined in terms of recommendations, it is among the repeated recommendations that in-service training and seminars can be provided, that the art training environments should be equipped with the necessary materials, that the visual arts course time should be increased, that cooperation with the museums should be made.
