Kültürel aktarım yapmaları nedeni ile toplum hakkında genel bilgiler veren atasözleri ve deyimler önemli bir kaynak teşkil etmektedir. Nesilden nesile aktarılarak günümüze kadar ulaşan, önceki kuşakların yaşamları hakkında öngörülerde ve kültürel aktarımlarda bulunmamıza olanak sağlayan atasözü, uzun deneme ve gözlemlere dayanılarak söylenmiş ve halka mal olmuş öğüt verici nitelikte söz olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Deyim ise genellikle gerçek anlamından çok az ayrı, kendine özgü bir anlam taşıyan kalıplaşmış söz öbeği olarak kavramsallaşmıştır. Bu çalışmada kültürel yaklaşımlarda önemli yer tutan atasözleri ve deyimlerin Türkiye kültüründe güç konusu açısından incelenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışmada güç konusu esas alınarak Türkiye’de Ömer Asım Aksoy’un (1998, 2007) Atasözleri ve Deyimler Sözlüğü’nde geçen tüm atasözü ve deyimler, güç kavramı ve kapsamı açısından incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda Türkiye’de atasözleri ve deyimlerde güç konusuna geniş ölçüde değinildiği görülmektedir. Güç kavramı olmak üzere literatürde yer alan tüm güç türlerine karşılık atasözü ve deyimin olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca önemli bir kültür çalışması olan Hofstede’in araştırması da yine atasözleri ve deyimler kapsamında irdelenmiştir. Detaylı bilgiler, çalışmanın içeriğinde geniş olarak tartışılmaktadır.

Proverbs and idioms constitute an important source because they give general information about society via cultural transmission. Reaching up to our day by being passed down, proverbs, which provide cultural transmission and foreseeing on the lives of previous generations, are defined as sayings having the characteristic of advice made public and said basing on long-lasting trials and observations. Idioms are conceptualized as word heaps having a meaning specific to it and quite different from its real meaning. In this study, it is aimed to examine proverbs and idioms which play a key role in cultural approaches from the viewpoint of power in the Turkish culture. In the study, all the proverbs and idioms mentioned in Aksoy’s (19988, 2007) Dictionary of Proverbs and Idioms in Turkey were examined in terms of the concept and scope of power based on the subject of power. As a result of the study, it was seen that Turkish proverbs and idioms touch upon the subject of power on a large scale. It is concluded that there are proverbs and idioms for all power types in the literature including the concept of power. In addition, Hofstede's research, which is an important cultural study, was also examined within the scope of proverbs and idioms. Detailed information is substantially discussed in the content of the study.
