Abstract:

The literary works aim to explore and promote man in all aspects. For this, they do broad spirits; they try to reveal the inner world of man, his feelings and his dreams. At this point the relationship between literature and psychology, a young branch of science, which is a branch of beautiful arts, begins. Typology, a psychological term, is the method of determining and distinguishing human types in the most general sense. While there are many similarities between human behaviors, Carl Gustav Jung, who unveils a theory based on differences, focuses essentially on two human types: external and internal. In this context, Jung achieved some results in the theoretical framework by classifying the basic personalities and sensual characteristics in order to analyze human psychology. A number of characters are included in Nazan Bekiroğlu's novel "Nar Tree" of the Turkish Literature of the Republic Period. Our purpose in this article is to analyze the spiritual conditions of the characters in the novel, starting from the theoretical framework of Carl Gustav Jung, to reveal how parallel their attitudes in human relationships are with personality typology.
