In Paul Rotha's book "Documentary Cinema", John Grierson says the following words. “I see the cinema as a box and I use it as a propaganda tool and thus I think that the film’s irresistible philosophy will spread to the widespread spheres...” (Rotha, 2000, p. 30) With this word that Grierson says, it is like a summary that the film has a very strong influence on society beyond being art. Thus, the memory management of the masses that form different societies can be achieved much faster through this powerful mass communication tool. In short, it is clear and clear that the cinema, as Grierson (Figure,3) partially mentioned, actually has a stronger impact on society than all other plastic arts. This art form, both visual and hearing, has created its own species over time, both scientific and artistic, and has developed itself as a living organism in this process of creation. It is also in connection with many fields of art, design, architecture and science that it is also benefited and covered in the development process. The interconnective relationship is also active at this point. The influence of the ideological speech that art, architecture and cinema served under the Soviet Union's roof after the October revolution on societies lasted up to seventy-four years. In the framework of this research, the ideology and art relationships in the formation of collective memory will be investigated through the cinema and spaces. First, the propaganda tradition emerging during the development of the documentary cinema and the way of use of this tradition as a means of communication in the formation of collective memory will be investigated. As a result, the documentary cinema and propaganda traditions used in the formation of collective memory will be explained through examples in art and architecture, intertext interaction.
