Abstract:

The squamous cell carcinoma caused by the surface epithelium is the most common malignant tumor in the mouth area. Chronic smoking, alcohol consumption, radiation and oncogenic viruses are defined as etiological factors. However, it can also occur in patients who do not consume tobacco and alcohol. The question of whether chronic irritation created by disruptive proteins plays a role in the etiology should be discussed. Since clinically it can often occur in the form of painless ulcers, it is likely to be mixed with traumatic ulcers that are linked to the prothesis. This report presents clinical and radiographic findings of a squamocellular carcinoma phenomenon, which has been tried to be treated as a prothesis-related traumatic ulcer, which has ignored the possibility of being in a malignant character, although it has not been healed. Dentists should be careful, especially in the elderly patients who use prothesis, because the risk of oral cancer is high. Since early diagnosis is vital, injuries that do not heal within two weeks should be evaluated in the malignity direction.
