Introduction and Purpose: The aim of this study is to study the effects of different surface preparation processes on the surface smoothness of resin-based, polymer infiltrated ceramic and feldspatic CAD/CAM materials. Method and Requirements: Retin-based (Lava; 3M ESPE and Cerasmart; GC), polymer infiltrated ceramics (Enamic; Vita) and feldspatic ceramics (Cerec; Sirona Dentsply) CAD/CAM blocks were divided into samples with a thickness of 2 mm and 30 samples were obtained from each CAD/CAM material. The resin-based CAD/CAM blocks are divided into three subgroups: curl, control (accumulation (SB)), combined application (accumulation + hydrofloric acid (SB+HF)); and ceramic-based CAD/CAM blocks are divided into three subgroups: curl, control (hydrofloric acid (HF) and combined application (SB+HF) (n=10). In the Cila group, the samples were cyled up to 1200 grid SiC. The samples in the compound group are compounded with 50 μm of aluminium oxide, while the samples in the HF acid group are acidized with 5 % of HF acid (Ultradent) in 60 seconds. Examples in the combined groups were acetated after the kuming process. The surface smoothness values of all samples (Ra) were measured using the profilometer device (Perthometer M1 Mahr). The results were assessed by one way ANOVA and post-hoc Tukey tests (p<0.05). INSTRUCTIONS: The curved Cerec gives the lowest surface smoothness values, while Enamic statistically shows the highest Ra values (p<0,01). Surface processes have increased surface smoothness in all materials statistically significantly (p<0,01). After the application of HF acid, Enamic showed a statistically higher Ra value compared to the Cerec group (p<0,01), while no difference was observed between the Cerasmart and Lava groups after kumulation (p=0,446). As a result of combined applications, the highest surface smoothness has been observed in Cerasmart. CONTROL AND RESULT: Cerec material has been observed as a CAD/CAM block with the lowest smoothness value. Surface processes have increased the surface smoothness of resin, polymer infiltration and feldspatic-based CAD/CAM materials, and this effect has varied according to the structure of the material.
